Tenure-Track Faculty Position

The Department of Physics invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Physics or an equivalent degree in a closely related field by the start of the appointment. The Department offers a B.A. and B.S. in Physics, and a B.S. in Applied Physics. Preference will be given to condensed-matter experimental physicists who can teach a broad spectrum of traditional physics, but also have the potential to teach a significant fraction of our applied physics curriculum. Candidates will be expected to maintain an active research program appropriate for an undergraduate institution that affords research opportunities for students. Preferred candidates will be expected to meet the traditional requirements of excellence in teaching, active scholarly and professional work, and service to the university and community. In addition, new faculty are encouraged to develop and participate in activities that support the university’s strategic plan. This plan emphasizes: a) teaching and learning excellence; b) student access, retention, and success; c) excellence in research and creative activities; d) campus community; e) community engagement; and f) infrastructure.

Review of the applications will begin on December 1, 2014 and will continue until the position is filled; the position will start in September 2015.
