Dr. Kudlick is the retired director of the Longmore Institute, a leading disability studies center within the CSU system that until its closure in 2025 served as a model for disability-affirming work at CSUSB. She is fascinated by the places where bodies, disability, medicine and gender come together. In her scholarship and creative writing she seeks to understand how disability is part of ordinary rather than extraordinary experiences. She's best known for her essay "Disability History: Why We Need Another Other" in _The American Historical Review_ and other essays at the intersection of disability and medical history.
