(upbeat instrumental music continuous) [DR. ANNIKA YVETTE ANDERSON] I feel like I have a lot to give. I have a lot of lived experiences and intersecting identities with the students that I serve, and so, I feel like students thrive in this multicultural learning environment. So, we all have these intersecting identities that we bring to the table throughout our interactions, and so, I really wanted that to grow, not only as a scholar, but also as a teacher. Given my background, I get to really appreciate when I work with my students and my faculty, and to really think about their lived experiences and how that informs their decisions and the things that they care about. I think it helps me to serve them better. Our region is really rich with diversity. We are really rich in talent, and I think that's something that we really have to recognize as a university.
