‘AIDS Quilt Songbook’ comes to Palm Desert

Stacey Fraser, director of the “AIDS Quilt Songbook” at Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert campus, joined “Desert Entertainment” to discuss the upcoming performance on Friday, April 11, at 7 p.m. at the Indian Wells Theater. The program features 20 songs and poems inspired by stories of those affected by HIV/AIDS, performed by a mix of professional artists, CSUSB students, and alumni.

Preliminary data from a new multi-city survey by an emeritus researcher from CSUSB, Brian Levin, shows that crimes against Jews rose 12%, and those against Muslims rose 18%, even while hate crime rates in 42 U.S. cities declined by almost 3% overall in 2024.
Police reports of hate crimes in 42 major U.S. cities declined 2.7% in 2024, hovering around modern records, according to preliminary data from a new multi-city survey by Brian Levin, an emeritus researcher from California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). But anti-Jewish hate crimes rose 12% and anti-Muslim hate crimes increased 18%, part of an upward trend.
