Driven by a desire for change, Annika Anderson, associate professor and the executive director of Project Rebound, channels her personal connection to the criminal justice system – shaped by her family members’ transitions out of correctional facilities – into her teaching and leadership. She integrates service, research and education to challenge the stigma surrounding formerly incarcerated individuals and create pathways for change.

“Come as you are; you are not broken” is more than a motto, it’s a philosophy, said Dr. Chad Sweeney, current director and Faculty Fellow for Disability, Difference, and Accommodation. Since its opening in February 2024, The Cog: Neurodiversity Center has become an essential resource in extending the sense of safety and belonging for neurodivergent students on the CSUSB campus.

The Black Faculty Promotion Celebration shined a light on new and newly promoted Black faculty at CSUSB, with Marc Robinson, who was promoted to associate professor of history and earned tenure, taking center stage at the event.

The Black Faculty Promotion Celebration will honor the achievements of newly promoted Black faculty and those who are new to their teaching roles at CSUSB on Oct. 11 from 5-7 p.m. in the Santos Manuel Student Union Theater.

With the support of 340 donors, this year’s annual Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign raised over $135,000. The donations will fund scholarships, student-athletes, alumni chapters, student clubs and organizations, centers across all academic colleges and affinity centers.

The Symposium on Teaching and Learning (SoTL): RECONNECT will take place in-person on Feb. 23-24 on the CSUSB campus, with virtual sessions scheduled for March 1. The in-person gathering will be the first since 2019.
