Terezie Tolar-Peterson (health science and human ecology) was interviewed for an article about the benefits of a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle, Stuart Sumida (biology) was part of a team that presented on the benefits of non-traditional field trip locations, and research by Brian Levin (criminal justice, emeritus) was cited in an article about the latest FBI crime statistics.

The Tech & Cybersecurity Fair on Sept. 19 aimed to connect students with employers from the tech and cybersecurity sectors who were providing opportunities for internships, as well as part-time and full-time jobs.

On Sept. 19, 350 students gathered at Cal State San Bernardino’s Santos Manuel Student Union South Event Center for the Tech & Cybersecurity Fair. The event, which brought together students and industry leaders from the tech and cybersecurity sectors, was organized by the Career Center and the Center for Cyber & AI.

Carol Hood, who taught in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, served as the director of the Murillo Family Observatory for many years. While she is now the new associate dean in the College of Natural Sciences, astronomy and astrophysics remains her first love.

Hosted by the university’s Associated Students Inc., with Orientation & First Year Experience, The Coyote Experience Fall 2024 took place at the Santos Manuel Student Union (SMSU) North and South on Aug. 23, drawing a crowd of eager students ready to embark on the new academic year.

The certificate in computer science for K-12 educators will be offered online through Professional and Continuing Education in the College of Extended and Global Education.

To meet California’s increasing demand for computer science educators, CSUSB’s School of Computer Science and Engineering developed a certificate in computer science for K-12 educators with an expected start date of spring 2025. 

During CSUSB’s Nursing Immersion Program, students learned about important topics, such as ethical standards and expectations, healthcare terminology, and adult health and nursing care.

Sixteen nursing students from Chang Gung University of Science and Technology in Taiwan participated in CSUSB’s Nursing Immersion Program from July 8-Aug. 1. The program combined theoretical knowledge with practical experience and site observation, enhancing participants’ professional skills and providing a well-rounded learning experience.

Marc Robinson (history) participated in a professional development retreat organized and led by Black Male Educators Talk, Barbara Sirotnik (information and decision sciences) was named 2024 Outstanding Educator by the inland chapter of the American Society of Public Administration, Stuart Sumida (biology) discussed the problem of selling fossils to private collectors, and Brian Levin (criminal justice, emeritus) was interviewed by various news media on topics related to extremism.

Cal State San Bernardino continues to accept undergraduate applications from first-time and upper-division transfer students for spring 2025. The application deadline has been extended to Sept. 20.
