Sarah Grebenok, a senior geology major, was awarded the highly competitive Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship from the U.S. Department of Defense, making her the first CSUSB student to receive this national STEM honor.
The grant funds 43 scholarships supporting students in STEM, cybersecurity, math and education.
Nine CSUSB students and faculty in the biology department represented the College of Natural Sciences at the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science National Diversity in STEM Conference held in Phoenix.
