Brenda Franco Alcala, who lives in Cathedral City, is currently pursuing a bachelor of arts degree in business administration with concentrations in accounting and hospitality management at the Palm Desert Campus.
The reception highlighted academic excellence while offering a meaningful opportunity to recognize the accomplishments and journeys of the graduates.
The pre-college programs at CSUSB deliver comprehensive academic and personal support services designed to increase high school graduation rates, college enrollment and degree completion.
“Studying in Switzerland and Italy showed me the level of investment it takes to make an impact on someone, whether through food or guest interactions,” said hospitality management student Allen Pahl. “There was a moment of culture shock, seeing how differently people approach hospitality in Europe — the way they greet guests, the attention to detail and how valued I felt as a customer. It made everything we’ve studied in class come to life.”
The funding will strengthen the campus’ existing DEN Food Pantry and support the addition of a new grab-and-go food refrigerator.
The April 21 event brings together entrepreneurs, investors, business leaders and community partners for an evening where emerging ventures compete live for funding, recognition and advancement.
The event saw immediate success, with many student attendees submitting their intent to enroll and officially become Coyotes for the upcoming academic year.
