Nicholas Bratcher, director of bands at CSUSB, has been named director of the San Bernardino Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble, and Anthony Silard associate professor of public administration, released his second article of a three-part series for “The Art of Living Free,” exploring how we’ve become lonely and disconnected from each other.
Nicholas Bratcher, CSUSB assistant professor of music and director of bands, created his book “Rainbow Jukebox” not only for his LGBTQ+ Perspectives in American Music course, but for anyone “who wishes to be emboldened by its pages.” It will be the topic of his presentation on Tuesday, Feb. 15, on Zoom.
The CSUSB Symphonic Band has been named a semi-finalist for the Ernst Bacon Memorial Award for the Performance of American Music (College/University Division) for two March 2020 performances. The award is administered by the American Prize National Competition for the Performing Arts and is unique in its own right.
The COVID-19 pandemic has certainly presented numerous challenges for the CSUSB music department, but that hasn’t stopped them from picking up their instruments.
The Cal State San Bernardino College of Arts and Letters CAL Talk series returned with "Structural Racism, Civil Disobedience, and the Road to Racial Justice in the Age of COVID-19." Video of the presentation is available on the college's YouTube page.
"Structural Racism, Civil Disobedience, and the Road to Racial Justice in the Age of COVID-19," will take place virtually at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16.
The camp will give students entering grades 9-12 in fall 2018 a challenging, positive learning environment that will expand their musical development and skills in the use of either woodwind, brass or percussion instruments.
The CSUSB College of Arts and Letters Faculty Colloquium featured three faculty members: Carmen Jany, professor of Spanish; Annie Buckley, professor of art; and Nicholas Bratcher, assistant professor of music.
