
Kelly Schoenfeld and Brian Esser were out singing karaoke one night about five years ago when they decided to start what is now ESC Medical Billing. That resulted in a second business, Lightning MD, that launched in February.

Elizabeth J. Barfield, professor emerita and retired nursing department chair at Cal State San Bernardino, has received the 2020 Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Duke University School of Nursing.

The CSUSB Palm Desert Campus has named Kameron Manshadi as its Outstanding Undergraduate Student for 2020. Manshadi received a bachelor of science degree in nursing.

The 421 bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees awarded this spring is the highest number in the history of the campus. This year’s commencement ceremony was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The university’s goal is to recognize graduates with a traditional ceremony when it is safe to gather in celebration.

A clinic for the homeless in Palm Springs received assistance from the PD nursing students on May 15.
