About 400 people gathered at CSUSB on Oct. 10 to celebrate the life of student Jordyn Rivera, who was one of 58 people killed in a mass shooting during a country music festival in Las Vegas.

“The Underrepresentation of Women in Computer Science and Engineering” will be the next Yotie Talk presented by Cal State San Bernardino’s University Diversity Committee on Thursday, Oct. 19, in the John M. Pfau from 1-2 p.m.

Rivera, who died Oct. 1 in the Las Vegas mass shooting, was president of the CSUSB Eta Sigma Gamma chapter and was heavily involved in planning the race, said chapter faculty adviser Angie Denisse Verissimo.

Joan E. Fryxell, a CSUSB geology professor, will lead a hike to the San Andreas Fault on Thursday, Oct. 19. The hike will take place prior to the annual “Great California ShakeOut” simulated earthquake drill at 10:19 a.m.

More than 200 people ran or walked in the second annual Run Like A Mother 5K at Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday, Oct. 21, which this year was held in memory of slain student Jordyn Rivera.
